Dr. Zachary Joseph joined the Scott Lake Veterinary Center family in the summer of 2013 as an Associate Veterinarian and became Medical Director of the facility in June of 2019. He attained his undergraduate degree in Zoology at Washington State University followed by his Doctorate at the University of Wisconsin – Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. Since working at Scott Lake, Dr. Zack has expanded his skill sets and has strong interests in ultrasonography / echocardiography as well as dentistry and internal medicine / dermatology. Over his eight years at Scott Lake, he has cultivated wonderful relationships with his clients and patients which is one of his favorite parts about being a general practitioner. When he is not at his second home of Scott Lake, Dr. Zack enjoys spending time with his lovely wife Casondra and their two Golden Retrievers Tucker and Brody. While not working or spending time with family he enjoys being an avid rock climber, playing / practicing music and socializing.
Dr. Tom Oelfke grew up in Corcoran, MN and knew from a young age he wanted to work with animals. After high school, Dr. Tom attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN, earning a bachelor’s degree in biology and went on to earn his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 2018 and joined the Scott Lake Veterinary Center family in June of 2018. He thoroughly enjoys the never-ending complexity of animal medicine and has a special interest in surgical procedures. His easy-going personality, great sense of humor, and ready smile are a natural fit at Scott Lake. Dr. Tom spends his spare time working in his garden, doing home improvement projects with his wife, Serena, watching TV with his dog, Chico, and is an avid outdoorsman. Dr. Tom is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Kelly Callahan has been a member of the Scott Lake Veterinary family since November of 2019. She graduated from University of Wisconsin - Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 2013 (and was Dr. Zack’s classmate!), and worked as an associate veterinarian at veterinary clinics in Kenosha and Madison, Wisconsin. She relocated to Minnesota in the fall of 2019 with her husband Ryan, son Ronan, and two Boston Terriers Kwame and Linus. She strives to provide compassionate, thorough care to all of her patients, and she especially enjoys internal medicine, preventative medicine, and dentistry. In her free time, she loves spending time with family, cooking, and being outdoors.
Dr. Katie Chan is a recent graduate from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2020 located on the beautiful Caribbean island called Saint Kitts. After completing her pre-clinical curriculum at Ross University, she was placed at University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine where she completed her final year of clinical training. Dr. Katie is originally from Bloomington, MN and is excited to be a part of the Scott Lake Veterinary Center family to provide high quality and compassionate veterinary care to your furry family members. She has special interests in preventative medicine, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Katie is an avid indoor rock climber, enjoys PC gaming, playing musical instruments, and spending time with her family/friends including her beloved rescue cat, Everest.
Tara earned her Associates Degree of Veterinary Technician in 2015 from the Minnesota School of business. Shortly after graduation, Tara started her career at Scott Lake Veterinary Center as a Veterinary Technician. In June of 2019, she was promoted to practice manager and has diligently worked to improve overall function and efficiency of the clinic. She can also be found helping as needed with veterinary nursing roles and is the resident dog whisperer, working closely with dogs that need extra care and attention to feel comfortable in our clinic setting. In her spare time, Tara enjoys spending time with her husband, 2 human sons and her fur babies: 2 Labradors, Hoyt and Avery, her 2 cats, Squatter and Roadrunner, and her chinchilla, Sweet Pea. Tara enjoys the outdoors and favorite hobby is fishing.
Shannon earned her Associate of veterinary Technology degree at Minnesota School of Business in 2007. She rejoined the Scott Lake Veterinary team after a brief hiatus in November of 2019. Her extensive experience in the field helps greatly throughout all areas from technology to surgery. She is a highly dedicated individual and enjoys educating clients on pet care. At home, Shannon enjoys time with her husband, son, and her house full of fur. She also loves her 2 basset hounds, Stan and Norm, and her 3 cats, Hawkeye, Vinnie, and Peaches. Her hobbies include crafting and spending time with her many nieces and nephews.
Kelly joined the Scott Lake Veterinary team in June of 2017. Kelly earned her Associate’s degree in Veterinary Technology from the Minnesota School of Business in 2011. Kelly’s primary area of interest at Scott Lake is professional dentistry and dental radiology. She enjoys the family atmosphere that encompasses Scott Lake and its team. In her free time, she enjoys watching the Vikings, spending time outdoors fishing, kayaking and time with family. Kelly has a love for music and can be found serenading patients and staff around the clinic. One of her favorite things to do is sing karaoke. She especially enjoys hanging with her 3-legged fur baby, Stevie. But don’t let the 3 legs fool you, Stevie keeps Kelly on her toes.
Rachel earned her Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Technology from Argosy University in the Spring of 2019. She started her career with us as an intern in January of 2019 and after graduating from school joined the Scott Lake Veterinary team full time. Rachel is a great asset to our team, she enjoys all aspects of the clinic, and takes pride that we are all friends and have a very positive, supportive atmosphere. Rachel’s favorite breed is the Bernese Mountain Dog and hopes to have one (or several) someday. For now, she loves hanging with her 2 dogs, Niko and Piper, and her cat Downy. She has even taught Piper how to sing. Rachel has a love for music and likes to play guitar. She also enjoys kayaking, reading, and watching Netflix.
Marriah, otherwise known as Riah, joined the Scott Lake Veterinary team in April of 2019. She earned her Veterinary Nurse Assistant certificate in 2016 from the state of Arizona. Marriah’s primary area of interest in the clinic is helping with the sick or injured patients and caring for them to make them feel better. Marriah is an awesome team player and enjoys being challenged and learning new skills on a daily basis. Outside of work, she enjoys time with her husband, two dogs, Layla and Tucker, and two cats, Jillian and Greg. Star Wars, gaming, Victorian houses, and antiques are among a few of her interests and her favorite breeds are Boston Terriers and Australian Shepherds.
Becky returned to Scott Lake in January of 2020 after a brief hiatus but has been a team member of Scott Lake Veterinary Center for a total of 13 years. As part of our customer service team, Becky enjoys building relationships with our clients. She says the best part of her job is helping the client better understand how to care for their pet and she truly does this to go above and beyond to help everyone! Becky’s favorite dog breed is the Golden Retriever. Her baby boy dog Russell is a Golden mix and she enjoys taking him on walks. She also has a cat named Sugar which she enjoys just as much. Outside of the clinic life Becky’s interests are helping her two daughters with their business, spending time outdoors especially at the cabin up north, and chasing her chickens. Don’t be surprised if you see her riding her electric scooter when the temperatures are warmer!
Amelia is one of our four customer service representatives and started with us in April of 2019. While at Scott Lake she enjoys talking with our clients and being a team player. While outside of work, Amelia enjoys spending time with her husband, target practice (not the store), house plants, and has a love for coffee. She’s got a special place in heart for the small dogs even though her favorite breed is the Norwegian Elkhound. She even has one named Obe Wan, her other furmily members are Whiskey (who is known for his inventive hairstyles) and Jango Fett. She absolutely does not like Star Wars. Just kidding, she loves Star Wars.
Jonas joined the Scott Lake Veterinary Center customer service team in November of 2019. You may recognize his voice from our voicemail and messaging system. When asked what he enjoys most about working here, he chuckled and said when clients think they are talking to a recording when it is actually his live voice, but in all seriousness, he enjoys being able to help clients and their pets. Being able to build and strengthen the bond between them is most rewarding. The Leonberger is his favorite dog breed but is pretty partial to the Labrador and the Beagle. He has a beagle at home named Cassie who has stolen his heart. In his spare time, Jonas loves cooking, playing videogames, hunting, and fishing. He even makes his own lures which you can ask him about.
Kim is another one of our returning veterans of Scott Lake Veterinary Center having been with us previously for 2 years. Kim came back to us in the September of 2020 and is a wonderful asset to our team. One of the great things about her, is that she truly enjoys communicating with clients both returning and new to Scott Lake. One of the things she enjoys about being at the clinic is the amount of compassion our entire team gives to the clients, pets, and staff. Outside of the work life, Kim enjoys time with family, boating, going for walks or bike rides. After a good day at work, Kim relaxes at home with her two cats, Rex and Mikey.
