Benjamin J. Sweers, DVM
Dr. Ben has been an integral part of Scott Lake Veterinary Center since 2003. Originally from Britt, Iowa, Dr. Ben earned his Associate of Arts degree from Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa, and completed his Bachelor of Arts degree from Dana College in Blair, Nebraska. He then earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University in 2000. Since then Dr. Ben has gained extensive experience in areas of emergency medicine, soft tissue surgery, and internal medicine before becoming owner in 2004.
Away from the office Dr. Ben enjoys watching the Minnesota Twins and the Vikings, riding motorcycles, visiting the family farm in Iowa and traveling. Dr. Ben and his wife, Julie, enjoy quiet time on their hobby farm with their children, Jadyn and Tyler. He also has rescued 2 mastiffs named Maverick and Sampson.

Zachary Joseph, DVM
Dr. Zack joined the SLVC team in the fall of 2013. He attained his undergraduate degree in Zoology at Washington State University. He then attained his DVM degree at University of Wisconsin Madison in 2013. He currently lives with wife, Cassy and Golden Retriever “Tucker” and is holding out for his dream pair of Golden Retrievers.
In his spare time he enjoys rock climbing, listening to and performing all genres of music.
Michelle Zanol, DVM
Dr. Zanol joined the SLVC team in the winter of 2013. She attained her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Minnesota in 2005 and her DVM degree at Iowa State University in 2010. She currently lives in Chaska, MN with a boyfriend and a cat (Crush) and a dogs (Joe & Jack) both Cocker Spaniels.
In her spare time she likes to read, craft, camp, hike, and be outdoors.
Dr. Zanol is a member of the AVMA.
Dr. Thomas Oelfke, DVM
Dr. Tom Oelfke joined the SLVC team immediately following his graduation. He attained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Gustavus Adolphus College and his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University in 2018.
Dr. Tom always knew that becoming a veterinarian was for him as he loves all animals and has a fascination with the complexity of veterinary medicine. His easy going personality, great sense of humor and ready smile are a natural fit in this field. When Dr. Tom isn’t treating his furry patients he finds spare time to enjoy reading, Rock Paper Scissors challenges, camping, hiking in the great outdoors, and playing the trombone. At home Dr. Tom relaxes with wife Serena and fur kid 5 year old Chico.
