Julie Sweers, Practice Manager
Julie’s love of animals came from growing up on a farm in Wisconsin along the bank of the Mississippi River. It wasn’t until she was an adult that her veterinary career began. She is a graduate from The Medical Institute of Minnesota now known as Argosy University located in Eagan, MN. Her background includes many years as a day practice technician, 7 years as an Emergency Facility On-site Practice Manager and Emergency Technician and 1 year as an adjunct instructor at Argosy University. Although comfortable in the office her main love has always been the clients and their furry companions. Julie enjoys doing community service and regularly helps with vaccination and microchip clinics for rescue organizations. She feels that it’s her way of giving back for all their support given to her. When not working Julie enjoys gardening, hobby raising chickens and ducks, Girl Scouts, genealogy, reading and spending quieter moments with her husband, Dr. Sweers, and their 2 children, Jadyn and Tyler and family cat Blackberry.

Kelly, Veterinary Technician
Kelly began her collegiate training to become a technician while still in high school, attending the MN School of Business as a night student. She graduated with an Associates degree in Veterinary Technology in 2011. Her veterinary passion initially began with sea life, mainly dolphins, and because she never intends on moving away from the snow she turned her day to day passion towards the furry friends closer to home. As the oldest in her family Kelly always strives to be a good role model for her family and siblings to follow and creating long lasting bonds with clients is her greatest joy. Kelly is a go-getter and can be found everywhere in the clinic on a daily basis. She enjoys surgery, radiology, dentistry and working at the front desk covering for co-workers over lunches. When not bouncing around the clinic Kelly enjoys watching Netflix with her dog named Lily and Stevie, her boyfriend and family, being outdoors, camping, fishing and eating pasta… but not all at the same time.
Nikki, Veterinary Technician
Being a good listener is one of Nikki’s go-to talents when it comes to working with clients and their furry friends. She once listened to a little boy tell his story of why they were at the vet clinic that day: He tried to flush his cat down the toilet. This is all in a days work for Nikki, a graduate of the Medical Institute of Minnesota, now known as Argosy University, as she enjoys helping animals and their people. Ask her anything… really… she’s used to lots of questions as a mom of a single and triplets. Her passion is client education and helping owners take care of their pets with quality medications and supplements and Laser therapy, her specialty. Ask her how it can help your pet. When not being Mom Nikki enjoys time with husband Josh, Molly their Springer Lab mix and half Arabian horse named Champ… oh and the kids of course: Harley, Dylan, Brody, and Hailey.

Mariah brings humor and compassion in her daily duties as she has always seen working in the veterinary field as her call to stewardship. When not at work Mariah confesses to a love of Naps, baking, fishing, farming, hunting and collecting furry friends. Becca owns and operates Becca’s Beaut’e Pawlor within the Scott Lake Vet facility. Becca has always had a connection with animals since a very young age. She grew up with dogs, snakes, lizards, guinea pigs, birds and at the age of 9 started riding horses and fell in love. She was able to get her first horse a couple years later which led her to go to college where she became a professional horse trainer, massage therapist, and ferrier. This dedication led her to go on and receive her Comprehensive Riding Master VI Degree from Meredith Manor Equestrian College. Due to limited employment opportunities with horses in her small town Becca returned to school and became a Certified Professional Dog Groomer. Becca states that “Every day I fall in love with being a groomer even more”. and “I love making dogs feel more comfortable and beautiful”. Becca has now been grooming for over 6 years and is very passionate about what she does. When Becca is not hanging out here at Scott Lake Vet bathing and grooming her furry clients she is hanging out with her 2 dogs, Outlaw and Riley, a cat named Rusty, and a gorgeous and much loved horse named Jewels. Free time is spent with her family doing fun things like camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and reading.
